FOOD FOR THOUGHT REGARDING TRACK MEETS

1. Please show up ONE HOUR before your 1st event at any track meet.  WHY? So you can clear your mind from the travels, focus and get a proper warm-up.  Also, make sure you know the meet schedule. Why? So, you can warm-up properly for each event.  

2. Listen for your events.  You should always hear 1st call, 2nd call and Final call for your running or jumping event. You should be warming up on the 1st call for your event. Note: Sometimes meets can get ahead of schedule. Make sure you are aware of what is going on for proper warm-up.

3. Bring your own snacks, lots of water, some healthy sandwiches, fresh fruit, nuts etc.  You need to stay hydrated and have enough calories to compete at your best.

4. Some track meets are long and drawn out.  Meaning, they can take all Day!!!!  Bring an umbrella, a blanket, a pillow, your music, homework etc.

5. Keep your uniform covered up at all times. Unless you are about to compete.  No!!! Spikes in the stands ever
Once your competition is over, take your spikes off, put on your training shoes, t-shirt and shorts/sweats, covering your uniform and proceed to do your cool down within 5-10 minutes of your last running/jumping event.

Have Fun....Stay positive....Do your best....Really compete...Learn something everytime you compete.....and again.... Have Fun!
